Spring is here, oh spring is here and all of the flowers, trees and plants are blooming, as Mother Nature takes her course and the ecosystem operates in the manner in which it was intended to. This of course means that it is allergy season for one and all! However, I have two ways that I have found to easily defeat indoor allergies. One, I take over the counter meds, which help a little bit, but two: I harness the power of my ionic air purifiers to really clean the air in my home. I actually have several ionic air purifiers that are in different rooms in my house that truly work to clean out the air and any allergens, so that I can breathe easy during the day and rest peacefully at night. Ever since I took his advice, life is much better during the springtime for me, my friends!

Our new home is really beautiful and my skill at home decorating is almost non-existent. I did go online and studied all the sites that showed different ways to decorate a home and I must admit I learned a lot about it. It is so easy to study and buy online. You can just look around with no one standing behind you. I have found that it is the little touches that make the home more beautiful and they do not have to be very expensive. I found just the right silk flower arrangement for my dining room table and it goes perfectly with the colors of the furniture in that room. It does really make a difference. While I was at it, I thought a new vacuum cleaner would add to the good looks of my new home. I don't love to clean but it sure is nice when the floors are vacuumed and all the dusting is done. After being in a new apartment for a couple of weeks, all of my stuff is pretty much in place. Apart from some candles placed here and there around the bathroom sink and kitchen sink we really have not messed with home decorating. One of my roommates is bringing back a tall fake plant to put on our patio. We really want to find a deal on a used restaurant heat lamp to put out there. There is the perfect patio enclave for it. I have since been cruising favorite online retailers for home decorating ideas. Obviously, the best ways to bring more life to a place is with creativity because it costs the least but my roommates nor I are that artsy of people. We rely on ideas from online sources.

A glass vase here and there, a few more framed pictures on the wall and random trinkets adjacent to the novels on our bookshelf should do the trick. We aren’t interested in home decorating that changes paint on the walls or anything like that being an apartment. I give it another three weeks before our place is at 100 percent.

I have decorated my second bathroom awhile ago in newer and plusher décor. It is amazing what a new coat of paint, new fluffy towels and shower curtain, new bathroom fixtures and small décor items can do. I have a small window in there that is mostly to display items and have bought glassware to accent the rest of the bathroom. I purchased two small live plants to give it the final touch. I am very pleased with the way everything turned out, but I did notice my live plants weren’t doing that well. I watered when needed, but maybe it was too much sun, although the leaves weren’t burned. I chalked it up to some kind of plant disease. I should have gone with a small silk flower arrangement in there to begin with. No remembering to water and silk flower arrangements look and feel very authentic. Summer is around the corner and we are looking at a big spike in our electric bills, so we decided that we'd order a small refrigerator to keep our beverages in so we're not opening the big refrigerator all day long. I have found that our kitchen small appliances are so useful because they don't use a fraction of the energy that the big ones do. In fact, we even use solar ovens outdoors to cut down on our electricity usage when we can.

They only work when it's sunny, though, so my battery of kitchen small appliances does get a fair amount of use. Today when I was looking for small refrigerators, I ran across this one and it looks just perfect to keep our beverages chilled. We host many of our family's holiday parties and we routinely run out of refrigerator space once the meal is over. My vacuum cleaner is one of the most used household items in my home. Back in the day, when kids and pets came in and out of the house like revolving doors, I literally could vacuum every day. My vacuum cleaner was always at the ready for any dirt, crumbs and pet hair. My family room carpet at that time was a deep forest green, I loved the color, but did it show everything in sight. After I vacuumed the family room, I would just take a good look at it for a couple of seconds, because it would soon show bits of this and that soon. From canister vacuums, uprights to bags and bag less features, I have had them all. The home we live in now is much smaller and there is no dark carpet. I have a really large breed wolf hybrid dog that is nearly a hundred and sixty pounds in weight and seeing as he is part husky and wolf, well needless to say that he sheds his fur all over the place. Fun little fact, the orchid family is the largest family of flowering plants in the world. I picked this one up while watching Cash Cab on TV. I have a couple of friends who moved into a new third story two bedroom apartment about a month ago. This is the highest story in the complex and it really shows. Just yesterday, I made the final walk though of my old apartment before handing the keys over. It was the culmination of a four day process of slowly moving stuff from one place down the road to another. After the cardboard boxes and trash bags were off the carpet, I was free to push the vacuum cleaner from room to room. Apart from the spots that came through the carpet over the year of living there it did not look half-bad by the end. The real test will be to see how much they take from our deposit. Apartment complexes can get really shifty during this part of tenancy.

The vacuum cleaner swept up the tile kitchen floor better then a broom and I was almost tempted to take it on the patio to pick up all the loose dust and paper scraps on the concrete. On second thought, this probably would have been horrible for the vacuum cleaner. After it is all said and done the old place looked pretty good empty but the new one is way better.

A few days ago when I came home to find my oldest son using the vacuum cleaner to clean up leaves off the driveway, I knew then it was time for a new one. I had been thinking about getting a new vacuum cleaner for quite some time now, but I kept putting it off as one of those expenses that I really hate to have. I've had the current vacuum cleaner for about 12 years, and based on the way it sounds from time to time, I knew that it had seen better days and that it was a matter of time before it gave up for good. Coming home to find my son vacuuming up leaves from the driveway only confirmed that obviously it was time to let that vacuum cleaner become an outdoor vacuum and get a new one to be 'inside only'.

When I asked my son why he was using the vacuum cleaner to clean up the leaves, he said he wanted to clean them up with the rake but because the wind was blowing the leaves kept blowing away. A few days ago I noticed the first signs of spring and I couldn't help but find myself getting very excited. I'm one of those people who love it when winter comes, but by the time it ends, I'm ready to see spring. My home needs a bit of home decorating. Specifically, I need to purchase new curtains for the living room and dining room. In all there are four windows and one sliding glass door leading to the back deck that need home decorating with new curtains. I called a store who sent a lady to my home to measure the windows and then we sat down and looked through all the options for the curtains I could choose from. After making my selections she totaled everything up and it cam to almost five thousand dollars! I was shocked to say the least. After letting her know I would think about it I went online to several home decorating web sites selling curtains and I found beautiful, quality made curtains for half the price she quoted me. After I get my daughter's and mom's opinion of the curtains I have selected I will most definitely buy the curtains online and pocket the savings. I need their opinions and approval because I tend to buy home decorating products that are the wrong style or color to go with the home and rooms I intend to decorate.

After three trips to a local store to buy a replacement dust filter for my daughters vacuum cleaner and buying the wrong filter each time I finally went online and did a search for the vacuum cleaner filter that has thus far eluded me. It is my fault I need this new vacuum cleaner filter because when I used her vacuum cleaner I decided to empty the container that holds the vacuumed stuff. I just emptied this container without paying any attention to the fact the filter was there and it came off and went out with the trash. I cannot believe it has been such a difficult task to find this filter at a local store because the vacuum cleaner is a well known brand and the store even sells them! But do you think they would keep the filters? Nope. I found it online and the filter should arrive in a few days. Plus I am certain I paid less for the filter online than had I bought it at the local hardware store.

I'm getting together with an old friend this weekend and after the concert, we're going to go to her place for and talk about home decorating ideas that she wants to employ to change the look of her apartment. Right now it's fairly sparsely furnished, but I told her that it's easy to find home decorating ideas online, and even easier to buy them. I'm really looking forward to the task ahead because I love home decorating projects. I used to work with interior decorators and learned a few of the guidelines they use to make long, narrow rooms seem wider and more spacious. Another thing I'm going to suggest is that she uses a white curtain instead of the green one which pulls the eye to it, making the room seem even more narrow.

She obviously needs some art work for that long wall so people sitting in those chairs can have something to look at.
