Have you ever been to someone's home and noticed their home decorating looks like a picture out of a magazine? I have, and I always felt I should not sit on the furniture or heaven forbid I scuff up the carpet by actually walking on it. This is not my style for home decorating at all. I want guests and visitors to my home to feel immediately at ease and with the proper home decorating theme this can be accomplished. I like to furnish with warm, earthy colors and fabrics that invite people to feel at home. I do have a few antiques but I encourage friends and company to touch them and not worry about breaking anything. It is all just stuff that can be replaced. Visitors to my home can tell right away my home decorating is more for comfort and function than a house full of designer furnishings no one wants to sit on. I use to vist a couple whose home was perfectly decorated and as soon as I would leave his wife would vacuum the carpets! Very strange in my book. Relaxing, that is how I approach home decorating.
