Kitchen Small Appliances Create Great Food and Snacks |

My blender is one of my most useful kitchen small appliances. I use it to make all kinds of things, the most recent of which was the thickening for the gravy for Thanksgiving dinner. It does such a fantastic job of making smooth soups, sauces, and thickeners. One of my favorite foods is split pea soup and it's so easy to make with a blender. I cook the split peas first, then puree them once their soft, and put the soup back in the pot to cook the celery, onions, and carrots. Making our food at home from scratch by using the kitchen small appliances saves a lot of money and we eat so much healthier, too. Processed food is a chemical stew, but when we can use kitchen small appliances to make our meals from whole foods, we are so much ahead on the health curve.
Something else we love is to take a batch of strawberries or raspberries and toss them in the blender and add ice and tonic water. Sometimes we add just a little bit of sugar, but normally it's OK unsweetened. In the summer it's a wonderful, healthy drink. Some people like to add yogurt, but we like ours plain and fizzy. Without the kitchen small appliances, we'd have to buy juice from the store and that costs a lot of money, so we opt to make our own and create our own special flavors.
