home decorating, silk flower arrangementI am convinced there are special people on this earth who have a knack for making places look good. I can tell you if I like a look but recreating my own is really hard. Most of my home decorating has either come from the wise words of my girlfriend or from ideas I got from people or pictures. My girlfriend has a thing for orchids. She simply loves how they look. The other day I saw one in front of a store being sold from a local grower and had to get it for her. Before that little addition though she had taken it upon herself to work the colorful flower into her home decorating.

In her bathrooms there are vases filled with river rock to hold the fake stems of some pink and purple orchids. It’s those kinds of little accents I am not wired to figure out. I actually tried a couple times but never came away with anything because it never looked right. I am amazed at how real some of the silk flower arrangements look. I was looking over the shoulder of my girlfriend’s shoulder as she looked for some new flake poinsettias for the holiday season online. They look no less real then the fresh ones my mom used to get this time of the year when I was growing up. I have learned flowers are a quick way to add home decorating color.
